James “Jim” McGowan is the author of Players of the Game, an epic science fantasy series where magic and technology collide across multiple worlds. He views writing as play, an extension of making stories with various action figures and robots as a kid. His vista has broadened into the character-driven, action-packed, and occasionally wry stories of his unfolding saga. Jim lives in Nebraska.
In addition to writing, he enjoys enticing his lovely wife, friends, and family with new recipes. His black bean Marsala pasta, sous vide salmon, Scotch barbeque chili, and thick-crust pizza are favorite standbys. While writing is his passion, he likes getting out of the house for walks and hikes. He’s always up for a game of pitch or an online video gaming session with friends too. He also plays solo tactics video games to scratch his methodical progression itch. Jim is a fan of comic books and often enjoys their adaptations to other media. And, of course, he’s a big fan of sci-fi and fantasy novels across all formats.
He’s a member of the Nebraska Writers Workshop, the Nebraska Writers Guild, and the Alliance of Independent Authors.
