Players of the Game Character Spotlight: Avril Enzali

Avril Enzali has trudged through hell.

Figuratively, in the form of getting stabbed in the head, becoming a living ghost, and losing decades with the temporal warping of a Time Tunnel.

Literally, in that she fought aside the Brigands through a Nether Realm in a struggle that culminated in a one-on-one duel with her despotic mother.  A fight that Avril won in recovering her sword to restore her physical body.  But also a fight she lost.  She fled with Ashe from the war they’d just lost in Sufrinzon.

But her mother’s war is behind her now.  And in front of her looms the task that has motivated her every action thus far.

The liberation of her goddess.

Celsis Kri in chains.  Deep in the bowels of an extra-dimensional dungeon made of unbreakable ice.  The frigid material can only be melted by Flames of Tumult.

A wild power that both Ashe Stelfire and Ed Burnhelt wield.

And Avril will do everything in her considerable power to get these men to her goddess.  To break her free.

Find out if Avril reaches Celsis Kri in The Breakers.

Players of the Game Character Spotlight: Avril Enzali – Krian Armor

Avril Enzali sets in motion much in the Players of the Game saga.

And it all starts when she embarks on a quest to find her biological father, Ashe Stelfire, in his remote tower on an island in Sufrinzon’s Ocean of the Lost.  With a companion who has an agenda of his own.

Svithe.  Broker of All Things Rare.

But Avril possesses much of her own resources.  She wields Nixer, a sword that leaves ethereal and everlasting harm on anyone it stabs or strikes.  Her Krian helm, symbol of her order’s leadership.  One she took on from her adoptive father.

Her most potent asset, however, is her determination.  It drives her to become the best in swordplay and myriad forms of mancy.  But despite that, she still cannot master the one thing that will free her goddess from her prison of unbreakable ice.

Channeling Flames of Tumult. She needs Ashe Stelfire for that.

And nothing will stop her from recruiting him to her cause.

Whether they can actually return to Trojis to accomplish that goal is another matter entirely.  A goal Svithe will stand against.  Or get others to do in his stead.

Players of the Game Character Spotlight: Avril Enzali

Avril Enzali is one of the primary characters in the Players of the Game series.  She seeks out Ashe Stelfire, the father she’s never met, to implore him to help her free her imprisoned goddess in the beginning parts of Repenter.

It does not go well for her.

She clashes with not only agents of Corsis, but also her despotic mother, Nirva Iniv.  She does not emerge unscathed from her struggles against them.

The picture above is derived from how she appears in The Brigands.  The flower wreath is significant, but you’ll need to read the novel to find out why.

She also had romantic fling with Harry Mang long in the past.  But the embers of their intense affair still glow.  Perhaps one day, they’ll burn anew.

Avril has trained in the art of combat, both with bladed and ranged weapons as well as potent mancy hexes.  She also becomes well versed in the subset skills of astramancy, which involves manipulating aspects of mind and spirit on this plane of reality and those connected only by thought.

Avril knows the Game all too well.

It’s taken much from her.  She strives to end it.
